“When using bleach, the first thing to do is to open the windows or increase ventilation!” said Yan Zonghai, director of the Linkou Chang Gung Memorial Hospital Clinical Toxicology Center. In addition to ventilation, the concentration of bleach should also be reduced by diluting it with water. Yan Zonghai said that the generally recommended ratio of bleach for home use is "1:100", that is, bleach should be diluted with 100 times the amount of water. Even in hospitals, when disinfecting patients' feces and other items, the ratio of "1:50" is already very high. Strong, never mix with other cleaning agents.
"For example, mixing bleach with hydrochloric acid will produce toxic gas!" Yan Zonghai said that bleach is a strong alkaline solution. If acidic detergents are added, "chlorine gas" will be produced. This is a very dangerous gas. Even at low concentrations, it will cause toxic gas to enter the nose after inhalation. The skin, throat and eyes will feel irritated; high concentrations will damage the lungs and cause breathing difficulties.
Housekeeping expert Chen Yingru admitted that the bathroom is indeed the area where she is most likely to use cleaning agents. "But I still try to reduce the time and chance of contact. 「例如漂白水混用鹽酸就會產生毒氣！」顏宗海說，漂白水是強鹼溶液，如果加入酸性清潔劑，就會產生「氯氣」，這是非常危險的氣體，就算是低濃度，吸入後鼻子、喉嚨、眼睛會感覺很刺激；而高濃度則會破壞肺部，感到呼吸困難。
家事達人陳映如坦言，浴廁的確是她最可能會使用清潔劑的區域。「但我還是盡量減少接觸的時間與機會，我通常會先在發霉處噴上適量的除霉劑，先讓它靜置一下，過會兒再來處理。」
